The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (U.N. Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific; abbreviated as escap; abbreviated as ESCAP) is a branch of the United Nations. It was established in 1947 and is subordinate to the United Nations Economic and Social Council. Its headquarters is located in Bangkok, Thailand. Its main responsibility is to promote the economic and social development of Member States.
