The international geographic Union (IGU) is an organization composed of geographical academic groups in various countries. It is a member of the International Scientific Council and was officially established in Brussels in 1922. The main responsibilities of IGU are to promote the cooperation and exchange of geographical research among countries, carry out academic discussions and publish geographical research journals.
