Lycos is one of the earliest search engines. It was developed and launched by Dr. Michael Mauldin in 1995. In 2000, it was purchased by Terra networks at a high price of US $12.5 billion, and then by Daum company in Korea at a price of less than US $100 million. Lycos has a comprehensive database, and its search results page usually has screenshots of relevant websites.
