Union Carbide is a chemical enterprise in the United States, founded in 1898 and headquartered in Houston. Union Carbide gradually rose and expanded globally after obtaining the patent for ethylene manufacturing in 1917. Union carbide was hit by the Bhopal incident in India in 1984 and was acquired by Dow Chemical in 2001.
