European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) is the world's major aircraft airworthiness certificate issuer (the other is the Federal Aviation Administration of the United States). It was officially established in 2003 and is now headquartered in Cologne, Germany. It is one of the EU institutions. It is mainly responsible for drafting civil aviation safety regulations and implementing operation certification related to aviation safety.
