Bowdoin College is a prestigious college in the United States. It is located in Brunswick, Maine. It was established in 1794 and named after James Bowden, former governor of Massachusetts. Its physics department, economics department and biology department are recognized by the academic circles in the United States; Its Department of government and law was rated as the best political science course among small colleges in the world by the London School of political economy in 2003. Ranked fifth in the 2015 U.S. News ranking of American colleges of Arts and Sciences. In 2006, Bowdoin was listed as one of the "new Ivy" by Newsweek. During the admission process of the college, SAT scores are not necessary.
