Thailand National University of law and politics was founded in 1933 and was approved as an open university in law and Political Science in 1934. In 1952, it officially became the National University of law and politics of Thailand. In 1949, the teaching structure of the University of law and politics was mainly divided into four departments: the Department of law, the Department of politics, the Department of business and accounting and the Department of economics. In 1954, the Department of social management and the Department of journalism were added. A year later, the school of public management was established and offered postgraduate courses. In 1966, the school of public administration was incorporated into the National Institute of management and development of Thailand. The National University of justice of Thailand established the first liberal arts department in Thailand in 1962, introduced liberal arts education and became the founder of Modern Higher Liberal Arts Education in Thailand.
