Bank Leumi, one of the largest banks in Israel, originated from the Anglo Palestinian company established in London on February 27, 1902 (Anglo Palestine); in 1932, its main branches were moved to Jerusalem; after the establishment of the state of Israel, it was allowed to issue new currency; in 1950, it was renamed its current name. In 1954, it became a special commercial bank. In 1983, it was nationalized. The bank ranked 1143 among the Forbes Global 2000 enterprises in 2014.
