The United Nations International Seabed Authority (ISA) is an authoritative organization specializing in the management of the international seabed area and its resources. It originated from the Preparatory Committee for the United Nations International Seabed Authority and the International Tribunal for the law of the sea (hereinafter referred to as the Preparatory Committee) established in March 1983 and was officially established in Kingston, Jamaica, on November 16, 1994.
