The Royal Astronomical Society (RAS) is an astronomical research group in the UK. Headquartered in London, RAS was founded in 1820. It was the earliest existing astronomical society. It was named the London astronomical society at the beginning of its establishment, and later obtained a royal charter to become the Royal Astronomical Society. The main task of RAS is to publish astronomical and geophysical academic journals.
