GenBank is a DNA sequence database created by the National Biotechnology Information Center of the United States. Its purpose is to promote the enrichment and updating of DNA sequences. Sequence data obtained from public resources are mainly provided directly by researchers or by large-scale genome sequencing projects. In addition, GenBank also establishes data interaction and cooperation with EMBL and DDBJ.
