The National Academy of engineering is the highest academic group in American Engineering and one of the four major national academies in the United States (the other three are the National Academy of Sciences, the National Academy of medicine and the National Scientific Research Council). The college is a private, non-profit engineering academic group. The top three awards in American Engineering (LARS award, Gordon award and Charles stark Draper Award) are awarded by the College of engineering.
