Encyclopedia Britannica (also known as Encyclopedia Britannica) is the most academic, authoritative and famous encyclopedia today. It is commonly known as "one of the ABC encyclopedias" in the English world and one of the three encyclopedias in the world (the other two are Encyclopedia of America and encyclopedia collier). Encyclopedia Britannica was published and distributed in Edinburgh, Scotland in 1771 by the private organization Encyclopedia Britannica press. In 1941, the copyright was owned by the University of Chicago and is now headquartered in Chicago. The website is its online version.
