National Bank of India (State Bank of India, SBI) is the largest bank in India. It was founded in 1955, headquartered in Mumbai, and the Indian government is its largest shareholder. The history of the National Bank of India can be traced back to the Bank of Calcutta established in 1806, renamed the Bank of Bangladesh in 1809, and nationalized into the National Bank of India in 1955.
