The University of Oxford (Oxon) is a public university in the UK, located in Oxford, UK. It is a member of Russell university group and enjoys a high reputation in the world. Founded in 1167, it is the first university in the English speaking world and has a high academic status. In the Rae UK University ranking released in 2008, it ranks second only to Cambridge University.
