University of Southampton

University of Southampton, one of the top 100 universities in the world, a member of the Russell university group of the Ivy League and a member of the World University Alliance, was founded in 1862. Its predecessor was Hartley college. In 1952, it was officially authorized by the royal government to become a university, and in 1996 it was incorporated into the Winchester College of art, the most famous art college in Britain （Winchester School of Art）。
