Its business covers aero-engine, power generation equipment, finance, medical equipment, television media, plastics, energy and other fields. Ge was formed by the merger of Edison Electric Light Company and Thomson Houston electric company established in 1878 in 1892. The current chairman and CEO are Jeff Immelt.
