International Organization for migration

The international organization for migration (IOM) is a non political international organization for migration. It originated from the European Intergovernmental Committee on migration (ICEM) established at the "International Conference on migration" held in Brussels on December 5, 1951. In 1980, it was renamed "Intergovernmental Committee on migration" (ICM); May 1987, more current name. The purpose of the organization is to ensure the orderly migration of migrants to the receiving countries through cooperation with countries in dealing with migration issues.
