The Japan Foundation is a cultural promotion organization under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of foreign affairs of Japan. It was established in 1972 and has overseas offices in more than 20 countries and regions around the world. It is mainly responsible for Japanese culture and art exchange and Japanese education. It mainly operates the Tokyo International Film Festival and Japanese language proficiency test.
