The National Hurricane Center, a subsidiary of the National Weather Service of the United States, was established in 1898. It is mainly responsible for predicting and eventually tropical cyclones. It is a regional dedicated Meteorological Center designated by the World Meteorological Organization for the Atlantic and northeast Pacific.
