Standard bank, a famous bank in South Africa, originated from the bank incorporated as a branch of British Standard Bank in South Africa in 1962. In 1969, South African Standard Bank Group was officially established as the controlling shareholder of the bank and merged with Standard Chartered Bank to establish Standard Chartered Bank (Standard Chartered); in 1987, Standard Chartered Bank transferred its shares. The three major businesses of standard bank include retail and commercial banking, wholesale and investment banking, insurance and wealth management.
