British Academy of film and Television Arts The British Academy of film and Television Arts (hereinafter referred to as BAFTA; formerly known as the British Film Academy Award) is an award specially set for outstanding film, television and interactive media in Britain. It was jointly founded on April 16, 1947 by David Lynn, Alexander Kolda, Carol Reed, Charles Lawton and Rosie manfel. In 1958, it was established The Academy merged with the television producers and Directors Association to become the British film and Television Association; 1976, more current name; Headquartered in London. The trophy of the award is a mask designed by American sculptor mitz canliff. BAFTA has set up three categories: London awards, Los Angeles awards, Scotland and Wales awards.
