The United States Department of the interior (DOI) is the federal administrative department of the United States, which was established in 1849. Unlike most countries, the main responsibility of the United States Department of the interior is to manage the land owned by the federal government and protect natural resources, and deal with relevant affairs related to Indians, Hawaiian aborigines and Alaska aborigines.
